Become A Trustee

Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire would like to increase the skill base and diversity of its Board.  The post of Trustee is unpaid but it provides considerable opportunities for community involvement and personal development.  

Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire is seeking to recruit trustees who are enthusiastic and willing to help us improve our organisation so that we can continue to provide the best service we can to further the charity’s work, mainly in geographical area of Derbyshire. To complement and add value to the skills and experience of the present Board, we are interested in applicants who can demonstrate a track record and expertise developed in any of the following:

  • Media
  • Marketing
  • Public Relations
  • Finance (specifically fundraising, bid-writing or tender scoping and up-to-date experience in environment or corporate social responsibility)

These roles are non-executive and voluntary and you will be expected to attend seven formal trustee meetings each year and contribute to occasional events and activities.

Trustee responsibilities include:

  • Directing our affairs and strategic planning for the future
  • Ensuring we are solvent and effectively delivering our charitable aims and objectives
  • Ensuring we comply with charity law and preparing the annual accounts
  • Making sure we follow the rules in our governing document, use our charitable funds reasonably and make sound policy decisions
