Young people from Long Eaton School have been helping Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire to look after Fox Covert Local Nature Reserve.
Pupils from Year 8 have been along to the site numerous times and have helped us by adding a wire covering to slippery steps, making them safer for all visitors to use throughout the year.
Mrs Turner, who has been instrumental in organising the project said:
"It is fantastic to be able to bring students out of school to get involved in work that will benefit their own local community and to give them an opportunity to be praised for their good work."
Fox Covert is one of 6 officially designated Local Nature Reserves in Erewash that is owned by Erewash Borough Council and managed by Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire.
The sites are managed with a strong emphasis on involving local people wherever possible, raising awareness of the site and encouraging its use.
