Who We Are

Groundwork Derby and Derbyshire helps people and organisations make changes in order to create better neighbourhoods, to build skills and job prospects, and to live and work in a greener way.

We work with communities and partner organisations to improve the quality of the local environment, the lives of local people and the success of local businesses in areas that need investment and support.

We create projects and services that benefit both people and the wider environment. As an independent organisation, we are able to access funding, bring expertise and experience to projects and mediate between organisations and communities to ensure that the needs of local people are met.

We focus our activity on disadvantaged communities where we can make most difference. Our projects aim to improve things in three ways:

For People: create opportunities for people to learn new skills and take local action.
For Places: create better, safer and healthier neighbourhoods.
For Prosperity: helping businesses and individuals to fulfil their potential.

We operate across South Derbyshire District, Derby City, Erewash Borough, Amber Valley Borough, Derbyshire Dales District and High Peak Borough, and work on dozens of individual projects each year.

We make a difference

We work with local communities, not for them.  It’s about involving people in the regeneration process in such a way that they can take the lead for themselves.
