Our Policies & Standards

Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire aims to create and support sustainable communities by working in partnership with groups, individuals, organisations and businesses to improve the local environment and contribute to economic and social regeneration.

We hold full BS8555 certification and to meet or surpass all applicable legislation and other requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the community and the environment.

Environment

Groundwork is committed to reducing our impact on the environment. It’s hugely important to us that we practice what we preach in the way we run our organisations.

To support implementation of our environmental management system, we have set objectives, to reflect our most significant environmental issues:

  • To prevent land and water from being contaminated by our activities and provide appropriate training to staff.
  • To ensure office and project waste is collected according to the legal requirements.
  • To reduce CO2 emissions, generated by Trust's transport activities, by 5%.
  • To ensure compliance with legislation relating to habitats and biodiversity.

We review our environmental policy each year to ensure we have achieved our objectives and can continue to develop and improve our green policies.

We’re working hard to look at our processes and ways of working to reduce our carbon impact further. In particular, we are aiming to develop ways of better measuring and reducing the carbon impact of landscaping projects.
