Communities

Groundwork Greater Nottingham works with community groups to make changes to local places across the county. Often where we work depends on funding and our capacity, but it is always worth contacting us to see what we can do in your area. Work we carry out includes things like:

  • Creating community gardens and allotments
  • Providing activities for young people
  • Running local environmental campaigns
  • derelict land restoration or regeneration
  • community gardens and other open spaces
  • urban parks and open spaces/green routeways
  • urban design and masterplanning
  • formal and informal play areas
  • sports facilities
  • school (and pre-school) grounds
  • School & community allotments and health projects
  • community arts projects, land art and sculpture
  • green roofs
  • housing estates, alley-gating and homezones
  • strategic routes such as road corridors, cycleways and waterside improvements
  • heritage sites
  • business frontages
  • green business parks and industrial estates
  • landscape management plans and design strategies

We get local people involved at every stage to make sure the end result is what they want and fit for purpose. We can source funding opportunities and design and deliver the project. We have helped to transform run down parks, revived allotments and reclaimed former industrial land into valuable community green space.
