Become a Volunteer

Volunteer workingWhether you’re looking to gain work experience and broaden your horizons, fulfil your passion in environmental issues or simply want to give a few hours a week to a cause that benefits your community, Groundwork is the organisation that can help you to do something special.

Volunteers are at the heart of much of our success over the last 25 years and we rely on their interest and enthusiasm to support a range of projects.

Our EcoHouse has volunteer opportunities in the house, café and shop and we welcome people of all ages and fitness levels to help us preserve the beautiful open space in our county and support our conservation work by planting trees, managing woodlands and clearing ponds.

Hours are flexible and travel costs will be reimbursed.

Getting involved in one of our projects could put you in a strong position to obtain full-time work – in fact many of our existing staff began their careers with us as volunteers.  From administrative to practical ‘hands-on’ roles we can offer something to suit everyone.  To find out what opportunities are available near you, contact your local trust.

“I really wanted to do something to help tackle the issue of climate change and get more experience of working in the environmental sector so I searched for volunteering opportunities that could help me to do both.  This project is perfect for me.”
