Bikes4All

Cycling eventBikes 4 All is a ground breaking community bike enterprise which aims to get people of all ages enjoying safe, healthy and pollution free transport.

The project recycles bikes donated from the public and corporate sponsors and offers training, activities and services which have a positive impact on the whole community.

The idea began in September 2003 to prevent bikes going to landfill when they could be refurbished and donated or sold to families in deprived areas.

A team of qualified bike mechanics and trainers now works from our building in Queen Street, Leicester delivering accredited and bespoke training programmes and innovative services including cycle couriers.

We run The Bike Park in partnership with Leicester City council, offering secure parking at the Town Hall, with a workshop for repairs and maintenance and refurbished, new bike and accessory sales.

Ride to Knowledge

Ride to Knowledge is targeted at parents and children, aged 5-16, to learn about cycling and cycle maintenance together.

The five-week courses have been funded by the Big Lottery Fund as part of their Family Learning Program and can also be tailored specifically for parents and carers of children with disabilities.

The project is aimed at:

  • Non-resident parents wanting to spend more quality time with their children and learn a new skill.
  • Single parents and their children.
  • Female only groups, for mothers and children.
  • Special needs/disability groups, including parents and/or primary carer.

The course is free of charge to these target groups and families should bring their own bikes if they can. Each family unit will get a passport of achievement and the most confident learners will have a chance to work towards designing and building their own bikes from scratch
