Facts and figures

Here are some facts and figures to show Groundwork East Midlands’ impact in your neighbourhood during 2008/09:

  • We planted 8911 trees, improved 1,238,106 sq metres of land and maintained 1,866,220 sq metres of land.
  • In person days, we actively involved 64,689 young people, 49,074 adults and 3126 partners in projects.
  • 585 schools were involved with Groundwork and we trained 241 teachers in ESD.
  • The total training we provided for all our specialties equalled 5045 weeks and resulted in 1455 qualifications and 228 progressions.
  • Groundwork East Midlands has worked with 1466 businesses and actively supported 645 businesses with 86 EMS accreditations achieved. There were 202 new jobs created and 224 safeguarded.
  • Our mission to avoid and reduce CO2 emissions resulted in 17,812 tonnes saved and 4821 tonnes of waste diverted from local landfill sites.
  • In total, we progressed 710 projects: 204 physical environmental improvements, 364 education and community involvement schemes and 142 economy and environment projects.
